Working on a presentation for “The Future of Technology” due next week at UAA. I used Prezi and made a snazzy project focused on quantum entanglement and its use in communications technology in the future. Tell me what you think.. I might make a YouTube video of it and upload it later.

I’ve been watching the live stream, reading the tweets, commenting and just fist pumping from my desk all weekend. Sometimes it really sucks living in Alaska. I SERIOUSLY regret changing my mind about not going to UMF for spring break this year. Next year, I’m going for both weekends and that is a PROMISE.
Weekend #1 has some awesome downloadable free sets via Soundcloud.
Bitfenix Prodigy 2013 Mini-Gamer Complete! March 20, 2013

Thought I would upload a batch of photos showing my finished build. This beast is chewing through everything I throw at it. Borderlands 2, Guild Wars 2 and Crysis 3 run like a wet dream. Watercooling had to be rigged in a unique way. The radiator had to be wire-tied to the top rear 120mm fan. The Bitfenix Recon fan controller allows me to downthrottle the fans with seperate profiles. I love having the fans on low speed when using the PC for regular browsing or movie watching and ramping up my Spectre Pros to full speed for gaming. The 230MM front fan is very quiet on low and still has decent airflow throughout the case.
This is the nicest case I have owned and I fully recommend the Bitfenix Prodigy for anyone who wants to build a mini-itx build. The only limitation I can say this case has is the lack of a second PCI Express slot and the screws that came with the Bitfenix Spectre Pros are no good. (Toss them out!) Otherwise, the build quality on this case is amazing!
The Prodigy Project: Custom Build Mini Gaming Rig January 20, 2013

I’m currently planning to build my new gaming rig. I thought I might do something more audacious then before and so this time around I plan to build a mini-ITX PC. This smaller form factor comes with more complications. That said, I think this will be my best gaming rig to date.
First Decision: The Case
Stumbled upon this little beauty after doing some browsing. The Bitfenix Prodigy.

I am still doing further research for the other components. I will list the internals I’ve decided on in another post. I haven’t decided on a cooling solution yet and this heavily impacts the build as a whole.
Rough Blueprint for other parts:
Intel Core i5-3570K Quad Core CPU
CORSAIR Hyrdo Series H80 CPU Watercooling
EVGA 02G-P4-2680-KR GeForce GTX 680 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 X16
OCZ Vertex 3 MAX IOPS 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive
Haven’t decided on the power supply unit yet. I’d love to go full modular but this case has some strict dimensions.
Guild Wars 2: Still alive or dead? December 12, 2012

It seems to me that one of the best MMO’s I’ve ever played is dying. Less people play each day.. The content feels repetitive and boring as things progress.. I can’t complain too much since there is no subscription fee. I loved the game when I first started playing it. It was amazing even after a month straight of playing almost every night. The biggest problem for me lately is that I’ve already gotten all the gear I wanted and the only thing left to do is farm gold or work on a legendary item. The legendary item seems to be a little too hard core for me. I could never amass the gold or resources to craft a legendary. I turned to making alts and I find that somewhat fun but only for intermittent play. My guild has split up into several smaller guilds and that has caused a lot of people I used to play with to quit.
I wish they didn’t release the new ascended gear. It really sucks. I hate how it changes the ethos of the game. It was supposed to be a MMO actually based on skill not gear. They need to rework some of the classes quite a bit and just release new gear skins from time to time. They also need new dungeons from time to time. I am so bored of the content they have now. I haven’t explored all of it I guess but an achievement is not enough incentive.
I still love this game enough to hope things improve. Just can’t play a game like this without some serious group goals and reasons to log on.

Now that XBMC is officially coming to Android.. I am more excited than ever to be a founding member of the Ouya Kickstarter Project. I want to immediately install XBMC on the Ouya. The gaming functions will only be a bonus in my mind. I hope the Ouya becomes my new replacement Boxee Box.

Nook Color Rooted May 12, 2011

Got a Nook Color recently off Craigslist and rooted it to run CM7, Phiremod and a few other ROMs. I bought it mainly as a place to read my college books in PDF form but might as well mess around and learn something at the same time.
I don’t think this Space is Alive February 23, 2011

Been playing through Dead Space 2 on my PC. Pretty rad cutscenes. Not sure about the weapons in the game though. They seem a little too abstract. Only useful in some situations. A pain to manage ammo for all of them as well.
Some honorable mentions to other games I’ve played recently:
Magicka (humor + rpg = greatness)
Crackdown 2 and Army of Two with Taylor. Co-op helps me get through the winter.
Stay away from Dragon Age 2 (at least the demo). They oversimplified the game so much that it is boring. Another great gaming company sells out to the masses. I feel like the golden age of gaming has passed.
